Cover Plan Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully. They set out what is and isn’t included in our Cover Plan, along with any applicable discounts for works that fall outside the plan.

Section A — Boiler & System Condition

The system/boiler must be in good serviceable condition when accepted onto the Cover Plan. This includes the age of the boiler/system, which will be determined at the initial inspection.

If the boiler is under 10 years old, all parts and labour for repair will be covered by the plan up to a parts value of £500.00 + VAT. If repairs exceed this amount, the boiler will be deemed beyond economical repair — see Section C.

This excludes the main heat exchanger on the boiler, even if the boiler is less than 7 years old. In that instance, cover reverts to the terms of Section C, subsection 2.

Exclusions

1. Flue
2. Access to the flue if over 2 storeys, or where standard ladder access is not possible and scaffolding / cherry picker etc. is required
3. Frozen condensate
4. Boilers over 10 years old — see Section C (proof of boiler age must be provided)
5. Any non-natural-gas systems, i.e. oil, solid fuel, LPG changeover valves, hoses or cylinders
6. The following boiler makes/types: Ferroli, ATAG, Ravenheat, Intergas, Keston, Potterton Powermax, Range Powermax, dual purpose boilers / range cookers (Aga / Rayburn), or boilers with integrated storage vessels

Section B — Call-Outs

Boiler breakdown call-outs will be within reason and during normal working hours. Call-outs are always subject to there being no evidence of tampering or third-party interference.

Section C — Boiler Replacement

If the boiler needs to be replaced under the cover, this will be included after the initial inspection and service. Once a new boiler is installed, you will be locked into the Cover Plan for a minimum of 3 years (dependent on boiler type/kW). If you exit the plan before the term ends, you will be charged pro-rata in full for the balance.

C2 — Boilers Over 10 Years Old

If the boiler is over 10 years old, a 40% discount from our usual charges will be offered for a new boiler. This will be produced in quote form and sent out for acceptance.

Example: Glow-worm combination boiler supplied and fitted — £2,400.00 + VAT, with 40% discount = £1,440.00 + VAT.

All boilers covered must be domestic only, up to a maximum of 50kW.

The following specialist heating systems are not covered: warm air units; underfloor heating / controls; ground, air or water source heat pumps; combined heat and power systems; thermal store systems / cylinders; Elson tanks; single or multi-point water heaters; air conditioning units; electrical heating; gas fires; cookers; and hobs.

Section D — External Controls

External controls are included in your Cover Plan for repair or replacement as listed below, unless wilfully damaged or damaged through neglect:

1. 1 × 3-port valve
2. 2 × 2-port valves — standard circulating pump 15/60 (excluding bronze pump), up to 28mm on both
3. Standard ESI room thermostat / programmable room thermostat (1 per property only), and programmer (twin channel, 7-day, 1 per property)

Smart or internet-based thermostats and programmers are not covered under the Cover Plan. If required, the part would be charged at full cost; labour would be offered at our hourly rate with a 40% discount for installation and set-up.

Underfloor heating controls and manifolds are not covered.

Section E — Cylinders, Loft Tanks & Related Parts

Vented and unvented cylinders and loft tanks: if they prove to be beyond economical repair, we will supply and fit a replacement with a 30% discount off the total.

Example: 120L unvented cylinder at £1,050 + VAT, with 30% discount = £735.00 + VAT.

• E1. Immersion heaters for vented cylinders are covered under the plan. Immersion heaters for unvented cylinders are not covered but are offered with a 30% discount on parts and labour.
• E2. Expansion vessels for unvented systems are not covered but are offered with a 30% discount on parts and labour.
• E3. Multivalves for unvented systems are not covered but are offered with a 30% discount on parts and labour.

Example: Multivalve supplied and fitted — standard price £169.00 + VAT, with 30% discount = £118.30 + VAT. This is subject to quotation as parts prices vary by supplier.

Section F — Radiators

Radiators on the system are covered by the plan, excluding designer and column radiators — only standard radiators are included. This also applies to thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) and lock-shields.

We can either replace with a standard unit, or quote for a direct replacement with a 40% discount on labour (the customer to purchase or pay for supplied materials). The replacement must be the same size as the existing unit; cover does not extend to pipework alterations or re-positioning.

Section G — Chemical / Power Flush

One chemical flush or power flush is included within the recommended 7-year period.

Section H — Hot & Cold Pipework

Existing hot and cold pipework is covered by the plan unless it has been wilfully damaged or tampered with.

For example, a nail through a pipe would not be covered. In such cases, labour is charged at £65.00 + VAT per hour with a 40% discount applied, and materials are charged at full price.

Not Included in the Cover Plan

The following items are not covered, but can be quoted with a 40% discount on labour only:

• Basins
• Baths
• Bath panels
• Silicone sealant / seals
• WCs and cisterns
• Taps (basin, bath, kitchen)
• Shower trays
• Shower doors
• Power showers
• Electric showers
• Exposed thermostatic showers
• Bath screens

The following items can be quoted with a 25% discount on labour only:

• Property maintenance
• Leak damage

Also Not Included

• Making good following an escape of water that has been repaired under the Cover Plan — please contact your home insurer
• Concealed shower valves
• External / underground pipes between outbuildings
• Cast iron soil pipes
• Guttering
• Internal soil pipes
• Plastic soil pipes over 2m where scaffolding is required
• Concealed cisterns, syphons and push-button flush mechanisms

A 25% discount will, however, be applied to any quoted works for the items listed above.

What We Will Cover (Standard / Non-Manufacturer-Specific)

• Toilet consumables
• Ball valves
• Toilet syphons
• Flush pipes
• Doughnut washers

Cold Water Mains

Cold water mains leak repairs and replacements are not covered by the plan, but can be quoted with a 40% discount.

Example: To run 15m of 20mm blue poly, moling in and making good as required — standard price £1,800.00 + VAT, with 40% discount = £1,080.00 + VAT.

Additional Extras to the Cover Plan

• Cylinder cover (vented or unvented) — add to your Cover Plan for an additional £10.00 per month.
• Incoming cold water main — add to your Cover Plan for an additional £10.00 per month.
